Nadine Lustre backed a plea to keep the animals at a Davao City shelter alive against its closure order.
The Davao City Government issued a closure order for the Happy Animals Club (HAC), an animal sanctuary that was founded almost ten years ago, claiming a purported “foul order” coming from the shelter’s property.
In the meantime, the saved animals would be seized and taken to the dog pound, where, should they remain unclaimed for an extended period of time, they would be put to death.
The facility received immediate assistance from The Pawssion Project, a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates strays, and it posted a “SOS” petition on its social media pages.
Nadine saw this petition because she is also a well-known dog lover.
On her Instagram Stories, she posted a link to Pawssion’s post and requested assistance from her followers.
Nadine added, “Please help spread the word and please contact Happy Animals Club if anyone has a contact from the LGU [local government unit] of Davao who can help.”
Nadine’s account no longer has this post posted.
On October 19, Inquirer News was able to take a screenshot of it and post it online.
