MANILA, Philippines — Alice Guo, the suspended mayor of Bamban town in Tarlac, may face human trafficking charges this week, according to an official from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC). PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio disclosed that Guo could be held liable due to her partial ownership of properties where alleged human trafficking activities occurred.

Casio explained on ANC’s Headstart on Monday that the PAOCC has gathered substantial evidence linking Guo to human trafficking activities. “We are very confident that we will be able to file human trafficking charges against the embattled Mayor of Bamban. Now, we have also been viewing other possible charges in relation to money laundering as well as other charges that – either minor charges so to speak,” he stated.
The investigation centers around properties partially owned by Guo, specifically Baofu Land in Tarlac, where government authorities raided an illegal Philippine offshore gaming operator (Pogo) identified as Zun Yuan Technology Inc. in March. The PAOCC’s case is strengthened by provisions in the anti-human trafficking law that penalize property owners who allow their estates to be used for such illegal activities.

Casio confirmed that charges would be filed imminently. “For sure, by this week, we will be able to file human trafficking charges against Guo and her co-conspirators,” he added. The PAOCC is also considering charges related to money laundering and other minor offenses.
