On Monday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) declared that it is looking into any infractions related to vlogger Rendon Labador’s livestreamed raid of a Makati City company.
“We’re investigating this. Such behaviour is not encouraged by us. General Benjamin Acorda Jr., the head of PNP police, stated in a news briefing that “we will be making some directives and initiating measures so as not to repeat the same incident.”
If there were infractions, Acorda said that the responsible parties would face consequences.
As of the time of publication, GMA News Online had contacted Labador for comment on the subject, but he had not responded.
Authorities recently conducted a raid in Makati City on an online lender that was reportedly harassing non-paying customers.
According to reports, Labador broadcast the police operation live on Facebook.
The caption on Labador’s livestream offended the families of the company’s employees since it implied that the loan company’s staff members were already implicated in the accusations.
The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group claims that Labador’s involvement in the raid is due to a partnership between the two organisations.—LG, Integrated News on GMA
