LTO Appoints Youngest Executive Director in History

In a historic move, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has appointed 35-year-old lawyer Gregorio Pua Jr. as its youngest Executive Director. The appointment, made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., marks a significant milestone for the agency as it continues to modernize and innovate its operations.

LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II expressed enthusiasm about Pua’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience in both private and government sectors. “Gregorio’s background, including his role as LTO’s chief legal consultant, will be invaluable in advancing our projects and reform programs,” Mendoza stated.

Pua’s impressive resume includes degrees in legal management and law from San Beda University. He has held various positions in prominent law offices and has been a consistent legal consultant for transport groups before joining the LTO. His father, Gregorio Pua Sr., is the current Mayor of San Mateo, Isabela.

“The number of our youth clients has been increasing exponentially. We need fresh ideas in the changing landscape of government service. Executive Director Pua will bring in the youth idealism and vigor to the top-level positions in the LTO,” Mendoza added.

Pua replaces Francis Almora, who will return as the Director of the Law Enforcement Service. In his new role, Pua is expected to focus on key initiatives such as the digital transformation of the LTO and the resolution of the driver’s license card shortage.

Pua himself expressed his commitment to these goals in his first address as Executive Director. “I am honored to take on this role at such a pivotal time. My focus will be on leveraging technology to streamline our processes, reduce corruption, and improve the overall experience for our citizens,” he stated.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade praised Pua’s appointment, emphasizing his innovative approach and dedication to public service. “Gregorio’s vision and dedication are exactly what the LTO needs to move forward. His leadership will undoubtedly bring about significant positive changes,” Tugade remarked.

The public and various sectors have reacted positively to Pua’s appointment. Social media has been abuzz with support and optimism, with hashtags like #YoungLeader and #LTOReform trending as citizens express their hopes for a revitalized LTO under his leadership.

As Pua steps into his new role, the public eagerly anticipates the reforms and innovations he will bring to the LTO, hoping for a more efficient and transparent agency that better serves the needs of the Filipino people.
