PH Stands Firm: ‘We Won’t Be Intimidated’ by China’s New Trespass Rule, Says AFP

In response to China’s impending implementation of a “no trespassing” policy in disputed waters, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) issued a defiant stance on Friday, emphasizing the country’s resolve to uphold maritime rights and international law.

The AFP denounced China’s new policy as undermining the rule of law and international norms governing maritime conduct. “The presence and actions of Chinese vessels in our waters are illegal, coercive, aggressive, and deceptive,” the AFP stated firmly.

“We will not be deterred or intimidated,” the statement affirmed, underscoring the AFP’s commitment to continue maritime patrols in areas within Philippine jurisdiction, particularly in the West Philippine Sea.

AFP Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. highlighted the collaborative efforts among various agencies in preparation for any potential escalation. “We have made preparations with the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, BFAR, and other concerned agencies,” Gen. Brawner stated in an interview, emphasizing a coordinated approach to safeguard national interests and ensure the safety of Filipino citizens.

As tensions escalate, international attention remains focused on the implications of China’s policy on regional stability and the broader geopolitical landscape. Updates on diplomatic efforts and security measures will continue to unfold as the situation develops.
