The 22-year-old Cebu City model won plaudits from online viewers for her striking, vibrant sea urchin-inspired outfit, known as “Swaki,” she wore during the national costume segment.

On her Facebook page, Binibining Pilipinas also posted pictures of her outfit.
The organization said in the article that the appearance was “reminiscent of Yayoi Kusama’s iconic polka dots.”
Celebrated Japanese modern artist Yayoi Kusama rose to prominence with her polka dot and endless mirror pieces.
This national costume captures the captivating charm of the sea urchin, or uni, a delectable delicacy that is treasured in Japan and the Philippines. The post says, “Hand-sewn sequins, evoking the famous polka dots of Yayoi Kusama, create a breathtaking masterpiece that captures a shared passion for gastronomy and coastal way of life.”
Axel Que, a Cebuana fashion designer renowned for creating avant-garde national costumes worn by former beauty queens, created the garment.
In the semifinals, Borromeo never stops stunning the audience. She entered the stage wearing a glittering outfit reminiscent of a siren.
“Dyosa!” said an X user while flashing a fire emoji.
BBP claims that the garment drew inspiration from “Magindara,” the Visayan counterpart of the sirens and protector of the ocean.
It was created by Furne Amato, a designer based in Dubai whose pieces pageant queens wear.
