Marcos: The trip to Japan is a chance to reaffirm PH’s stance on problems

Head of State Ferdinand “Bongbong” According to Marcos Jr., he will have the chance to represent the Philippines’ interests and views on a range of global problems during his visit to Japan.

The President gave this statement on Friday before departing for Tokyo to attend the 50th ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.

“This year’s final ASEAN-related summit offers a chance to reaffirm the Philippines’ stance on pressing global issues and further Philippine interests,” stated Marcos.

“It is also a chance to celebrate Japan’s awarding of Comprehensive Partner Status, as ASEAN’s dependable and trustworthy partner in peacekeeping, economic growth, and community development for the last half-century or so,” he continued.
Along with promising that positive interactions with ASEAN and other external partners and stakeholders would continue “to best serve our national interest, inasmuch as we promote the regional interest of peace, security, and prosperity, for the well-being of the Filipino people,” Marcos also pledged the administration’s commitment to this policy.

Marcos added that through the JENESYS Program, he would draw attention to the longstanding cultural interchange between the Philippines and Japan.

According to Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Daniel Espiritu, talks on the South and East China Seas, as well as the circumstances in North Korea and Myanmar, will take place on the summit’s main day.

Additionally, Marcos and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will meet one-on-one in the interim.

Vice President Sara Duterte will lead the nation while Marcos is in Japan, according to the Presidential Communications Office.

Marcos will remain in Japan until December 18th, Monday.
