Ten “embo” b’gays are sent to the Taguig office by DILG.

Ten “embo” barangays will now fall under the authority of the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Taguig City field office instead of its Makati City branch.

Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos instructed the National Barangay Operations Office to send a note to DILG-Taguig transferring the coverage of the ten enlisted men’s barrio, or “embo” barangays.

According to Abalos, the office shall suggest suitable policies to guarantee the unhindered operations of the 10 barangays and offer technical support to the DILG-National Capital Region Office to ensure a smooth transfer.

The barangays of Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, Pembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper South Side, Rizal, South Cembo, and West Rembo will henceforth be under the jurisdiction of the DILG-Taguig.
Additionally, the same agency shall oversee the accurate reporting and transfer of the financial records, paperwork, and money accountabilities related to the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) holdings.

Dated October 26, the three-page memo was not made public until after a new slate of barangay and SK officials was elected.

According to the DILG, this complies with the 2021 Supreme Court (SC) decision that supported Taguig City in its long-running legal battle with Makati over the barangays.

Regarding the SC ruling, it also complies with previous guidelines released by the Department of Budget and Management and the Commision on Elections.
