Alleged Socorro cult ready to face any impartial investigation

An organization called Socorro Bayanihan Services Inc. (SBSI), which is accused of abusing children in Surigao del Norte’s Socorro town, declared that it was ready to cooperate with any unbiased investigation.

In an interview with Marisol Abdurahman for “24 Oras Weekend,” the group’s leader, Jey Rence Quilario, also known as “Senior Aguila, remarked, “Ang hiling ko lang is ‘yung fair naman, fair.”

(All I ask is for fairness.)

The accusations, Quilario said, had harmed him and that no one from the government had ever shown up to conduct an investigation.

“Wala naman. Wala naman talagang nangyari dito. Meron naman mga parents dito,” he added.

The Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 was allegedly broken by the group, according to a statement from the Department of Justice.

Since February 2019, there have been violations of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, according to the DOJ.

“A number of young people have spoken out about their devastating experiences. Their accounts include being forced to participate in military drills, performing difficult duties, seeing forcible child weddings, and encountering considerable obstacles while attempting to leave Sitio Kapihan, according to the Justice Department.
