Escudero: VP Duterte’s Resignation ‘Inevitable’ Amid Growing Family Rift

Senate President Francis Escudero stated on Wednesday that Vice President Sara Duterte’s resignation from the Cabinet was an inevitable outcome of the intensifying conflict between her family and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Escudero remarked, “I believe her resignation was inevitable from the time her father, FPRRD (former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte), and her siblings and allies began publicly criticizing PBBM (President Bongbong Marcos) and members of the first family.”

He pointed out that the inevitability of her resignation became increasingly clear when Vice President Duterte stopped expressing her support for certain key policy issues. These included the West Philippine Sea, the “Bagong Pilipinas” Hymn, and the legal troubles surrounding Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his attempted arrest.

The Vice President’s resignation has stirred political circles, raising questions about the stability within the Marcos administration and the potential impacts on its governance and policy directions. As the situation develops, the political landscape in the Philippines faces significant uncertainties and challenges.
