Performance ratings for Marcos and Duterte declined in 2nd Quarter.

(UPDATE) According to independent pollster OCTA Research, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte’s performance and trust ratings declined in the second quarter.

Marcos’ trust ratings were 75 percent in the second quarter of the Tugon ng Masa Survey, which was performed from July 22 to July 26, 2023. This is an 8 percent decline from the first quarter’s 83 percent trust rating.

Only 8% of Filipinos have mistrust for him, while 17% of Filipino adults are unsure.

The National Capital Region and socioeconomic classes D and E had the greatest trust ratings for the President, both at 81 percent and 76 percent, respectively.

In the socioeconomic class ABC, the Visayas received the lowest trust rating—63 percent—which is also his lowest rating.

The President’s performance was rated as 70%, a 9% decrease from his previous March 2023 grade of 80%.

Only 10% of adults in the Philippines expressed dissatisfaction with the President’s performance, while 19% were uncertain.

Class D and Class E had the highest satisfaction ratings for him, at 71 and 72 percent respectively, while Class ABC had the lowest satisfaction ratings of all the socioeconomic classes, at 62 percent.

Duterte’s approval rating, while still strong at 83 percent, was lower than the 87 percent she received in the previous three months. Only 2% of respondents had mistrust for her, while 14% had mixed feelings.
She had the highest level of trust in Mindanao (97%) while having the lowest level in Luzon (75%).

Class E had the highest trust rating for the vice president among socioeconomic classes with 92 percent, while Class ABC had the lowest with 78 percent.

Duterte’s performance rating also held steady at 82 percent among Filipino adults, a little decline from the 84 percent found in the March survey.

Her performance was rated at 96% in Mindanao, while the NCR and Balanced Luzon received her lowest satisfaction ratings at 73 and 74%, respectively.

In the same poll, trust in Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez was rated at 56% and 44%, respectively.

Romualdez’s ratings fell by 1 percentage point, while Zubiri’s rose by 6 percentage points.

On the other hand, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo has a trust score of 27%, down from the reported 39% in March 2023 by 12 percentage points.

Zubiri obtained a performance rating of 57% among congressional leaders, while Romualdez received a performance rating of 55%.

There were 1,200 responders to the poll. Its margin of error was plus or minus 3 percent nationwide and plus or minus 6 percent in key regions.
