Did you see that? A new Facebook logo with more blue is available.

The biggest social networking platform in the world, Facebook, has revealed a new logo and changed the hue of its primary color to a new shade of blue. On September 20, 2023, a Thursday, the modifications became official.

Facebook Sans, a distinctive typeface utilized throughout the network, is the font used in the new logo. The logo’s design attempts to increase coherence, intelligibility, and a sense of progress.

The new color scheme includes a core blue with the hexadecimal value of #316FF6, which is now Facebook’s main brand color. In order to improve accessibility and preserve the connection between Facebook and the color blue, the palette also includes secondary blues.

Why is Facebook rebranding?
Companies frequently change their branding. In actuality, a lot of the brands that we encounter online and on store shelves gradually alter small aspects of their branding. But whenever a strategic brand redesign is implemented, there are usually justifications behind the decision.

Dave Nguyen, Design Director at Meta, explains the rationale behind Facebook’s redesign in a post on LinkedIn:

The brand refresh, according to Dave Nguyen, Design Director at Meta, the parent company of Facebook, was driven by three objectives: to update the platform by redesigning iconic elements; to synchronize the brand for product-to-marketing experiences; and to center the brand’s color palette around its signature blue while maximizing accessibility.

Nguyen added that this is just the beginning of the brand revamp and that other enhancements will come later. Facebook, he continued, places an emphasis on developing user-first experiences that support others in making progress in the areas that are most important to them.
